Luscious Little Helpers

Luscious Little Helpers are open to applications for the Autumn block.

You can become a Luscious Little Helper by filling in the short application form (see bottom of page). Applications will remain open until the end of the month or until all places have been taken.

New helper slots will be released every 6 months and there will be an exclusive Helpers mailing list set up especially.

To register as a Helper you’ll need to pay a £10 deposit by the end of September to secure your place. The total due will be payable in full before your yarns are dyed.

As a Helper you receive a 20% discount. If you’re taking part in the Autumn Yarn Coop also, you’ll receive a 30% discount on your Helper yarn. The Helper yarns will not count towards the total skeins for the yarn coop.

The Luscious Little Helpers yarns will be dyed from September. It’s pretty flexible depending on how you want to time things and have your yarns dyed. I’ll be aiming to dye Helper yarns within the first 4-6 weeks and they’ll be dyed in order of payments received. We’ll need to confirm your Helper yarn requirements at the start of each block depending on the project you are planning.

If you’re a Luscious Little Club member, you can opt to use a monthly club batch instead of a custom dyed batch. For club members it’s a good excuse to order an exclusive club colourway that you might have had your eye on though. Club members still need to fill in the application form, sign onto the exclusive Helpers mailing list and pay a deposit to be allocated a Helper place.

There’s a Beginner / Intermediate and Intermediate / Advanced knitting levels and they’ll run through the Luscious Little Somethings Ravelry group, so join up as a member there too. There was so much interest in a beginner & intermediate group that I thought it would be better to run things as more of a collective and bespoke KAL, that encourages community, sharing, helping, practising and a love for creating through knitting. It’s basically a virtual knitting group and knit a long, but a truly Luscious one where you pick your project, your yarn and your colourway!

If you’re not a fan on the Luscious Little Somethings facebook page, then join up there to stay up to date with the Helper programme on a day to day basis. If you’re not taking part as a knitter, you can still get involved and watch the work in progress as a group member and customer.

As a helper you will receive a 20% Discount on your Luscious Little Helper Yarn. The catch is that we’d like to showcase your finished outcome, either with your own photos or sending to me to photograph after which I’ll then return it again. I’ll want to catalogue and showcase projects and write up a short review on the blog, with your input providing a brief review of the yarn and colourway, which you’ll be able to provide via a post project completion questionnaire. The photographs I’ll want to use, to showcase how clever and creative as a customer you can be!

You can have up to a maximum of 5 skeins of a particular base. If you want any more than this, really it’s project dependent so yarns have to be bought in context of the project you are planning. Helper yarns are dyed for specific projects, so you are limited partly by the project you wish to do in terms of yarn quantity and colourway. It’s a custom slot though, so anything goes really. If you want fibre to spin and then knit, you can also request a Helper discount off fibre prices.

You’ll only be able to knit a maximum of one project per Helper batch as a Luscious Little Helper. This will allow me to accept more helpers into the programme.

If you receive the discount and don’t complete your project, you won’t be able to use the Helper discount again the following batch. If you haven’t finished your project within the 6 months, you won’t be able to apply for a subsequent Helper discount again until you do finish. Helper projects can be carried over from one batch to another if you need more time or if you start your project later, so it’s intended to be pretty flexible. The Helper promotion is run separately to any yarn club, wholesale, yarn coops, individual discounts or custom ordering.

As well as being a Luscious Little Helper, you will be part of an exclusive group of helpers on an exclusive mailing list where finished projects can be previewed together, shared and discussed. Other than that discussion can take place on the Luscious Little Somethings ravelry group and day to day Helper chatter on the LLS Facebook page.

The other cool thing about this is that yarns can be dyed for a specific project in mind, which we can agree on and decide together. Kind of like a really special and bespoke collaboration and KAL for Luscious Little Customers. As it’s quarterly there should be quite a lot of freedom for you to time and plan your project.

I’d love to introduce a similar Helper programme for fabric and sewing too in the future. It’s really all about creating and showcasing beautiful makes as a community and providing you with great materials to work with. Ultimately that’s the point behind being a Luscious Little Helper and behind Luscious Little Somethings.

I believe that creativity is just one thought or action away and that handmade can mean well made, functional, beautiful and inspiring. I believe that beautiful outcomes are made especially with an individual in mind, while colour and creative outcomes can inspire and comfort others. Everyone can make time and space to add colour to their lives.

Create what you believe in and believe in what you create!

With Luscious Little Helpers, I want it to be truely permission based. So that you really enjoy the prospect of creating a specific project, focused as part of a knitting group.

I believe that everyone has their own sense of creative worth or value and that creating something is more than just about materials, process and time. It’s also about seeking out then finding inspiration, while having creative clarity and purpose ~ that’s where creativity and art begin to collide. I also believe if you are not in a position to create, by no means does that limit your ability to appreciate the creativity of others.

Through the Luscious Little Helpers, I want to inspire and promote that underlying creative ethos ~ a basic and shared belief in the power of creativity, beauty, inspiration and colour. When you buy from Luscious Little Somethings and take part as a Luscious Little Helper, that is what you are buying into. It means being a part of a community of people who like colour, like soft and squishy materials and like to create and inspire each other.
